It is a Swahili phrase that means “shoulder to shoulder,” describing the way in which two congregations accompany one another in a spirit of mutuality, inclusivity and vulnerability.
For Family of Christ this means a long partnership with our sister congregation in Usokami Tanzania.

Since 2004, FOC members and friends have supported over 400 secondary students from our partner congregations. Each fall we collect donations to help support the education future of our Tanzania friends.
We support medical scholarships for those entering growing fields of medicine in Tanzania. In the past we have supported Doctor, Pharmacist, Dentist, Radiology, and Medical Administration students.

The Iringa Hope mission is to improve the local economy and living conditions for families in Tanzania, Africa. We do this through a partnership program with the University of Iringa and the Iringa Diocese. The program provides education and training to our members and develops village Micro Finance funds and Agricultural Cooperatives.
